Let’s talk about just a few of the benefits of dancing.
  1. You can do it anywhere! Turn on the radio and dance while you’re cleaning your house or cooking dinner. Have a dance party with your kids when they get home from school. Go out dancing with your friends. Take a class at the gym. Play a dance game on your Wii or Xbox. The possibilities are endless.
  2. There are so many different types of dance. If you don’t like one type, try out another. You will definitely find at least one type of dance that you truly enjoy.
  3. Dancing is extremely beneficial in keeping us young. It increases our lung capacity and benefits our heart and cardiovascular system. In fact, the muscle exertion and breathing rates of competition dancers have been found to be comparable to those of cyclists, swimmers, and Olympic-level sprinters.
  4. Dance improves our stamina, builds strength, increases flexibility, and burns tons of calories.
  5. Dance is a great way to help prevent and treat osteoporosis, which is a major health concern for woman. Dance also helps prevent arthritis by keeping our joints lubricated.
  6. Dancing is a social activity. It provides many opportunities to meet other people, allowing you to connect with other people who are interested in fitness and having fun. What a great way to create your own group of supportive and like-minded people!
  7. Dance is for people of all ages. There is no age barrier when it comes to dancing. Whether you’re 3 years old or 84, you can do some form of dance. Regardless of your age, you can dance and enjoy its health benefits.
  8. Dancing is fun! It’s practically impossible to dance without a big smile on your face. I can’t think of a better way to exercise than doing something you truly enjoy.
